Great Saturday

It's a great Saturday. Don't you agree? I mean, first of all, there have been some great tennis matches. Currently rooting for Novak Djokovic because I'd like to see him beat Roger Federer. I suppose it doesn't matter much because Rafael Nadal is ready to win the whole tournament. That's just the way it has to be. I'm sad the U.S. Open is coming to an end though. The good news is that there will be plenty of college football and NFL to keep me occupied. We've already discussed that....moving on...
Let's go WWU Vikings! No? Oh...oops

Want to know the best-o pesto recipe? Okay fine. I'll tell you. Step by step, picture by picture. You're gonna love the way it looks (and tastes). The Men's Warehouse guy guarantees it

Looking good team.

Before we go any further, you should be warned that pine nuts are pricey. You'll pay $8.40 for 0.40 lbs. You need to get over this now because it's worth it. Don't doubt.

The belle of the ball. The star of the show. The head honcho. Is that enough?

Grab a food processor and put in 1 Tbsp of garlic (4 cloves). All of those pine nuts (1 cup). 2 cups of the finest smelling, tasting basil you can find.
Start processing!
Add 1 cup of extra virgin olive oil.

So far so good.

Grind up some black pepper. Just as much as you'd like. Toss in some cheese! 1 cup Parmesan and 1/4 cup of Romano.

Oh hey, we're done! How easy was that?

The most important part...

Taste test! This step must be included since it's the most fun important.

If you were wondering what to make for dinner...errr...you're welcome.

I'm off to enjoy the rest of my Saturday! Please do the same.

              Best-o,

Photo Mess Part 2

I've been sorting through my entire childhood of pictures. This time not for fun but to organize them for my mom. It's quite a task if I do say so myself. I've certainly come across more embarrassing classic photos this evening. Yes, I am showing some to you. Feel free to laugh. For instance, does this dress look a little risqué to anyone else?!

Just John and I looking as cute as little puppies.
This picture keeps haunting me. That mushroom cut makes me cringe every time. No, mom, it's not "such a cute haircut". Especially not cute when all the young lads in second grade also had this haircut. How was I supposed to charm anyone?
Turns out, I'm currently wearing a black shirt. I'm relieved I have changed looks (a little at least) ;-D Well, thank God my hair grew. This process of organizing is taking a whole lot of time so it may have to be continued. Who knows what I'll show you next. Stay tuned...or run far away.

Happy Labor Day.

Don't you love those laughter-filled days? I sure do. This afternoon my sister and I decided to go through our old photos: the good, the bad, and the unbelievably ugly. Let's just say...we definitely had our phases in this family.

All black everything. Sweet mushroom cut, too. If you can't tell, you should be glad. I couldn't afford to get closer to this picture.
Meliss checking out some classics!
Looking pretty fresh in our grade school uniforms.
Needless to say, we got pretty loopy after laughing at all of these gems. Give us 10-15 years until we look at these current pictures and wonder what on earth we were thinking!
Passing the day away.

It's not you, It's me.

While I have thoroughly enjoyed documenting my meals each day for the past few weeks, I need to take a personal break. I know it will be difficult at first but I know we can all get through this together. Life is getting busier and once school starts I'd hate to show you all of the boring, convenient food that I'm eating! This isn't an end, but perhaps a mere pause. I will still blog and occasionally put up some food pictures but you won't necessarily be seeing every morsel of food. I guess I'll stick to "oo-ing and aah-ing" at the other food blogs I follow religiously and encourage you to find some as well, if you haven't already. They are just so addicting. So bear with me because this wasn't the easiest of decisions. It's been really fun documenting all the meals and preparing them so that they look highly delectable.
Stuffed spinach pizza from Giordano's. I <3 Chicago pizza.

It's not goodbye...

                         ...it's see you later.

           Best,

I'm on my way out

I'm heading to visit some friends for a few days so today has been flying by just getting things together.
I woke up with granola and yogurt.

After my run I snacked on some delicious peaches that my grandparents brought from Pennsylvania.
"If I had my little way, I'd eat peaches everyday"
Lunch was my kind of sandwich. Hummus, roasted red pepper, artichoke hearts, pesto and a string cheese. If you know me at all, you'd know I savored every one of those bites. So.Good.

And then I made 8 dozen cookies....oops!

See you when I see you!

Too Good

Tonight's dinner was unreal. My grandparents came into town so my mom thought of a great dinner combination.
Tortilla encrusted tilapia
Marinated and grilled veggies
Brown and wild rice with currants, orange juice, and orange rind. (The rind is a terrible thing to waste, after all)

'Twas the best!

I'm exhausted. Goodnight friends.

September the first.

Let's get this month started!
Cereal may seem boring, but sometimes it's just the right amount of boring.
Had a few bites of my mom's blueberry pancake. A pure delight!

Don't worry, dinner will be more exciting. Will my life? That's still up for debate.
