Sometimes

Sometimes you unexpectedly find yourself at home for a month.

Sometimes you don't feel like blogging when you are home.

Sometimes you are lucky enough to see friends and family and Lucy.

Sometimes you get your wisdom teeth out and have the best people to help you get back to normal and make fun of your "Alvin" cheeks.

Sometimes you share sad moments with family but it's best to be together and hug at least every other second.

Sometimes a walk is the perfect cure to any situation.

Sometimes you listen to music in your kitchen making pasta.

Sometimes you experience one of those thunderstorms in which you completely forgot.

Sometimes you see ancient pictures in your dad's office and wish he would take those down someday.
*may be removed at the discretion of those in the picture :-)

Sometimes you forget how the perfect afternoon consists of playing P-I-G with your family.

Sometimes you hide Easter eggs in good company.

Sometimes you are around when a friend gets engaged.

Sometimes you have game night and laugh more than most nights.

Sometimes you spend days watching sports and smiling.

Sometimes you have to go back to your other home.

Sometimes you are happy to leave so that you look forward to coming back.

Sometimes you cannot complain.

Sometimes All times you should be grateful.

Répondez S'il Vous Plaît

I try not to spend money carelessly.  Really, I do.  But I have one major weakness...greeting cards.  I think I've mentioned this on the blog before, but the weakness has not wavered.  When I see the rows and rows of cards labeled "Funny", or "Thinking of you", or "Friend", or "Just because", or "[insert any holiday]", I am a complete mess.  A mess in the best way possible.  I don't believe in sending cards for a specific reason.  Sure, I love birthday cards, but that's just when I know there is a birthday coming up.  Most often, I find cards that I cannot wait to send for no reason at all!  I'm a sucker for anything that makes me laugh.  Well, that was a silly sentence. Who doesn't love to laugh?  I also enjoy inappropriate jokes on the cards.  Okay okay, don't judge me.  They can't be that inappropriate if they made it on the card!  Whew.  Tough crowd.  Just kidding!  I have no idea what kind of reaction you had.

Anyway, let's get right to it.  Cards can be pricey.  Especially the cards I prefer...and by pricey I mean more than three dollars and probably (hopefully) less than five.  So it adds up.  Except, here is my argument.  I never keep a single card.  I always send them.  I immediately have someone in mind when I read a card.  To me, I'd rather spend money on cards for others so that for one brief moment, they can have a smile on their face because of a funny or cute card.  Granted, I'm not sending cards to people who are sad and I'm not implying that this is their only joy (the cards aren't that miraculous!), but there are few things more exciting to me than writing a little note, addressing a card, placing a stamp on it, sending it out, and calculating the possible day it could arrive.  The things that make me happy are not always extravagant...sometimes they are just made from recycled paper and are sealed in an envelope with an x and an o.

Sunday Silence

I started blogging about 3 different things and erased each one.  Sometimes saying nothing is really better than saying anything.

Today, I'll say this:  I hope you had a beautiful weekend.  I'm going to log off and enjoy what is left of it.

GULP

Ahhhhhh!  Here it is...Saved by the Bellingham was changed to Annecdotes.  Just like that.  Saved by the Bellingham is old news, folks.  Except, it's not completely gone.  I'm still working on the URL so for now, it's still savedbythebellingham.com  (also, I apologize to my brother for purchasing that URL...I still appreciate it!)

So.  You knew it would be a play on words, right?  I mean, it's me here.  I would not be fully content.  Even still, I hope you learn to appreciate the new blog name!  Blogs are simply anecdotes, full of short stories and musings about life.  This blog, in particular, is mine.  Don't worry, I haven't changed...my blog just needed some freshening up!

Please, enjoy my Annecdotes!  Or get out while you can!

Frown no more

Whenever I need a little cheering up, I do this thing that never fails to make me smile.  I look at pictures of puppies.  After about the 80th "ohhhhh myyyyyy gooooodddnnessssss" or "get out of here!!!!", my cheeks hurt from smiling so much!  It's a flawless way.  Today's post could not be made possible without...PUPPIES!

If you didn't smile...I'm not sure where we stand as friends.

Saved by what?

The trouble with keeping a blog is that sometimes anything and everything pushes you away from it.  It may accidentally or perhaps on purpose, but sometimes blogging is the last thing on the to-do list.  To be honest, I know you all manage when I do not post so frequently.  Something else will always grab your attention.  When I'm at a loss for what to say or how to act, I just think.  I think to myself and choose not to blog.  Sure, I miss the e-mails from my parents "nice blog, Annie!", but I know they are okay.  So here we go.  Back to blogging.  I can't say I'm still in the right mindset, but I promise I'm trying!

My current thought is about this particular blog, in fact.  As I continue to travel down different paths, I've learned that my location may not always remain the same.  I live in Seattle, not Bellingham (for now).  Frankly, I do not see myself living in Bellingham again.  Yes, I was Saved by Bellingham...and I owe the world to the lovely, earthy-crunchy, Bellingham environment, but sometimes you find new places and new people.  Sometimes, if you're lucky, you find the old people in the new places.

For a brief time I thought "maybe I should just delete this and start a new one", but then I realized that I have used this outlet for so many moments in my life.  Maybe some of the posts sucked, but at least I wanted to post them at some particular time and I thought they were less sucky than you did.  Ironically, one of the most meaningful posts  for me was about my beloved Bellingham.  I've talked about my marathons, my dog passing away, and my sister's wedding.  As in life, some things are good and some things are bad.

So here I am.  The blogger behind Saved by the Bellingham for 2 years and 8 months and I'm changing the game on my readers.  I have yet to come up with a new blog title, but I will work on it!  I do know this----I cannot name it creatively after a city in which I'm living.  I'm 23 so I don't assume I'll stay in one place for my life.  Therefore, I will think of something that I feel truly describes the way I live my life.  And no, it will have nothing to do with running marathons.
